Our Story
Well here we go....Jon Culp one day was sitting in his room playing guitar by himself, writing down words to a song when it hit him...He should start a band! He jokingly said he should form one with his two friends Christen Chapman and Melissa Thomas, his soon-to-be girlfriend. Those plans fell through, so Jon thought again. He decided to teach Jeff Linn how to play guitar. That wasn't a very good idea. Jon was fed up with that, and told Jeff to purchase a bass instead. Jeff did just that, and they were on their way. One day their good friend Chuck Schwader came over, and Jon had quite possibly the biggest idea in the short history of the band. Let's have him play the drums! Jon had a kiddie set of drums and got them out, and the three of them played together. Jon had just wrote the lyrics to his newest song "Why", about Melissa after they broke-up. Jon taught Jeff a bass part, and Chuck a drum part, and perfected his guitar part, and by the next practice, they had played a song. Jeff had started to write a song and asked for a little help from Jon for the end of it. This song was "All I Want To Know", perhaps their best song. Jon made a catchy music accompanyment and taught Jeff a bass line and Chuck a drum part, again. At practice they recorded the two songs that they had so far, and to their surprise, it didn't sound half bad. They were pumped. Jon churned out songs like butta, and they practiced and practiced until they attended a pre-battle of the band show with their friends from the band Robot Hero. Second To None, as Jeff named the band, opened for Robot Hero that night. Jeff had broken the snare drum to the kiddie drum set, so Chuck needed to borrow a real snare. The only problem was that the snare was bigger than his bass drum now. Chuck sat on the floor and beat the shit out of those things, along with receiving a lot of laughter from the crowd of about 10 people. It was a good experience, especially for Chuck. Soon after he got real drums. Then they took off. They got better each day, and soon enough they went to their own battle. They played well, other than a few random mishaps here and there. They tied for 3rd, due to the fact that only the top two band were placed...shh...don't tell anyone that. After the show, they continued practicing and recording through Jon's piece of crap karaoke machine. They made more songs, and are currently working on their newest song, "This Awful Dream".  The band had recruited Alex Robertson to play with them, but noticed he wasn't very enthused to play with them.  They are currently looking at a new guiratist named T.J. and they don't yet know his last name. He is sure to fit in well with them though......Wait we were wrong...it didn't work out...he is gone now...And we have changed our name! It is now Grandpa's Sidekick....Dec 1st, 2003- our name is Schwader for good! And now it's March, and we haven't practiced since the battle. Jon went out with Melissa again, and again was screwed, so that's over.  We are now looking forward to our next project... New songs
